Progressive rock is a very general and intertwined genre of music which got its start in the late 60s, and continues to this day.
Indie rock is a sub genre of rock music which is often used to refer to bands that are on small independent or "rock" record labels or who aren't on labels at all.
The genre is typified by atonal chromatic guitar riffs borrowed from thrash and speed metal and the guttural growling vocals of death metal combined with the hardcore punk attitude.
