Suicide song - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Suicide songs are songs in which the most prominent lyrical sentiment is the conveying of the singer's intentions on taking their life (committing suicide).
The songs often relate sorrow, madness, or grief from an unrequited love affair that occasionally plagues the afflicted one beyond the pale of physical death.
The most famous suicide song is "Gloomy Sunday", known alternatively as the "Hungarian Suicide Song".

Suicidal ideation can be described as a result from the experience of emotional pain outweighing the individual's coping strategies and resources for dealing with that pain.
Strictly, suicide is defined thus: the death of the person who commits suicide must be the central component and only intention of the act, rather than a secondary consequence of an act which is centrally motivated by religion, politics, etc.
Suicidal attacks by pilots were common in the 20th century: the attack by U.S. torpedo planes at the Battle of Midway was very similar to a kamikaze attack.

List of songs about suicide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a list of songs about suicide, divided between those in which the suicide is the main theme of the lyrics, and those which mention suicide but not as the main theme.
This song is actually about the slow and prolonged death (apparently from disease) of a man whose wife is having an affair with his best friend, and does not deal with suicide in any appreciable form.
The lyrics are about a man who sees a beautiful woman whom he calls an 'angel': he falls instantly in love, but has to 'face the truth' that she is unattainable.

Suicide (from Latin sui caedere, to kill oneself) is the act of willfully ending one's own life; it is sometimes a noun for one who has committed or attempted the act.
According to stricter definitions of suicide, to be considered suicide, the death must be a central component and intention of the act, not just a certain consequence; hence, suicide bombing is considered a kind of bombing rather than a kind of suicide, and martyrdom usually escapes religious or legal proscription.
Suicidal patients in mental hospitals may be temporarily bound, placed in padded rooms, or incapacitated with drugs to limit access to means of suicide.

The Nation wrote, "this is storytelling." The song, "seeks to understand how Lindh viewed himself.
The song's use of qawwali, the "intense, God-conjuring, life-affirming vocal music of the mystical Sufi sect of Islam," underneath Springsteen's vocals is a "truly soul-stirring experience," writes Kurt Loder in Rolling Stone.

Suicide's first studio album was the highly acclaimed "First album", a somewhat cold and manic record which fired off a sonic assault of electronic noise and angst-ridden, morbid lyrics.
However, the variations and changes Suicide can create with their formula are limited, towards the end of the album it all sounds a little to similar.
While it may be true that Suicide's first album is much more aggressive(and the live disc that comes with it further proves they were more 'violent' during this time period'), it doesn't take merit away from this, Suicide's second effort.

Other than some rather questionable choices of songs, the only thing remarkable about this list is that so many sensation-hungry news outlets have attempted to spin it as an outrageous mandate by Clear Channel to "ban" certain songs from the airwaves.

The first four songs (and others besides either incomplete or forgotten) were first composed while I was a graduate student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
My "Songs of Experience" were formed in their midst, and reflect their kinder, gentler environs, and perhaps as well, my own middling age.
I know, I know--the song doesn't make it sound like van Inwagen revised Beta (which he did--though that made it less useful for constructing a sweepingly knockdown Consequent Argument in my estimation), and the "or" of "or be mysterian" obviously is inclusive to reflect something like his real position.
