NEW YORK, one of the Middle Atlantic states of the U.S., bordered on the N by the Canadian provinces of Ontario and QuÉbec; on the E by Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut; on the SE by the Atlantic Ocean; on the S by New Jersey and Pennsylvania; and on the W by Pennsylvania and Ontario.
New York was the preeminent U.S. state in commerce and manufacturing from the early 19th century until the late 1960s, when it began to be surpassed by California; in the 1990s it continued to be a leading component of the U.S. economy and remained first in many branches of economic activity.
Although not noted as a fishing state, New York ranks among the top 15 states in the U.S. in terms of the value of the annual catch, which was estimated at $51 million in the late 1980s.

BACKGROUND: In the United States, birth defects affect approximately 3% of all births, are a leading cause of infant mortality, and contribute substantially to childhood morbidity.
Although state and local surveillance data indicate that approximately 3% of births are affected by any of 45 birth defects, no national estimates based on population-based birth defects surveillance have been available for specific types of birth defects other than neural tube defects (spina bifida and anencephaly).
State and local health departments, with assistance from CDC, initiated enhanced infectious disease surveillance and outbreak response activities, implemented by teams of public health and rescue workers, including military personnel.

Because this is money the state will eventually collect anyway, the lawmakers opposed the bill, refusing to reward deadbeats for not paying their taxes on time.

Yeah, this is the same sort of problem with other lists trying to extend throughout all the ear articles - "1124 in sports" or "list of international organization leaders in 1124", if we extended those all the way as well.

There are still some good freedom loving Republicans in our state legislatures but they are becoming a declining commodity these days in a political environment that seeks to control one's movements and punishes them for not heeding their so-called wisdom.
Those who live in secondary states (meaning one cannot be stopped for no seat belt except in conjunction with another offense) need to keep their laws as they are or better yet, repeal them altogether and become like New Hampshire, the only state with no seat belt law whatsoever.
A first hand account from a DJ booked to play at the party stated that while police were arresting a man accused of narcotic possession, the suspect was beaten to the ground and continually "kicked in the ribs" by 4 armed "soldiers" dressed in camouflage.
