The bill requires certain state agency heads to meet at least once per year, at the call of the executive committee, to discuss rural issues; authorizes the executive committee to appoint an advisory committee; and requires the office to submit a biennial report on its activities to the legislature.
For a state symbol the legislature must specify its cultural or historical significance, and for a place designation it must be presented with information as to that significance and with certain documentation showing local civic support for the designation.
The bill provides generally that a fund or account created or re-created in the state treasury by an act of the 77th Legislature, or a dedication or rededication accomplished by an act of the 77th Legislature, is abolished on the later of August 27, 2001, or the effective date of such act.

Senate Bill 190 expands the list of offenses for which a person may be barred from employment with a facility in a position that involves direct contact with the facility's clients.
The department is required to submit a report to the comptroller and attorney general listing each nonprofit hospital that did not meet the required level of charity care and to make the report available to the public and issue a press release concerning the availability of the report.
The list of minimum standards that the board may adopt is expanded to include the reporting and investigation of injuries, procedures to ensure resident safety, and standards relating to behavior management and quality of life.

The first product of the chapter's effort to update the state's planning laws, a bill requiring municipal comprehensive plans to be consistent with local land-use regulations, was approved by the house government and urban affairs committee February 20, by a three-to-two vote.
As this column was being prepared, chapter leaders had not yet released a formal position statement on the commission's work.
More troubling aspects of the report, according to the chapter, include: replacing the state comprehensive plan with a brief vision statement, shifting planning duties to the local level with no assurance that the work will be done, trimming the state's regulatory involvement in several areas, and tinkering with the process regulating developments of regional impact.

On the 1880 Federal Census of Izard County, AR, Lafayette's (as he is listed) occupation is "miller." Living in the house at the time were wife Nancy, and children: James (11), Martha (9), John (7), Wesley (5), Dolly Ann (3), and Ada (1).
In 1885, 11 children or their descendants were listed as heairs of Lydia and Joshua when they began selling land held in trust for them since 1869; one child apparently died before 1869 leaving no offspring.
A second list of petitions (on which the Harpers appear) contains the names of those who "were also arrived from Ireland in the said ship on the encouragement of the Bounty," apparently having paid their passages, received their Bounties in full.
