Two of the largest and most stable were the core of the Mauryan Empire, Magadha, located in the central Ganges plain, and Satavahana, in the central Deccan and the south.
The next large state to hold sway was, in fact, a Muslim one: the Sultanate of Delhi has its own entry on this page.

This means that states such as Kentucky may struggle to get students with rural backgrounds that can do well enough on the MCAT to justify the "risk" of admission, especially if the two or more state schools compete for the same students.
States need to examine educational policies to see if they are damaging their own futures by consolidation of local school districts and centralization of higher education.

Built in 1500 this castle was captured by the Spanish in the winter of 1601, during the Battle of Kinsale; it was used to house captured American sailors during the American Revolution.
The Battle of Kinsale was a decisive turning point in Irish history, bringing to an end a nine year rebellion which had seen a powerful alliance of Ulster Gaelic chieftains drive the English from that province and spread insurrection throughout Ireland.
In 1601 Red Hugh O’Donnell seized the castle, as did Confederate Catholics in 1641, the Cromwellians in 1650 and both Jacobites and Williamites during the 1690s.
