Louisiana was a Roman Catholic colony with a close relationship between church and state, priests, and politicians.
Six rebel leaders were executed by firing squad on the grounds of what is today the Old U.S. Mint, another historic landmark now owned by the Louisiana State Museum.

Additional state funds of $10 million in LEARN subgrants and $2 million from BESE were allocated to boost the statewide initiative of integrating technology into classrooms during the 1997-98 school year.
A committee of educational technology leaders is in the process of revising the plan by rewording objectives to reflect the state’s performance-based accountability plan.
