Millard Fillmore (January 7, 1800 – March 8, 1874) was the thirteenth (1850–1853) President of the United States and the second President to succeed to the office from the Vice Presidency on the death of the predecessor.
A U.S. state is any one of the fifty states (four of which officially favor the term commonwealth) which, together with the District of Columbia and Palmyra Atoll (an uninhabited incorporated unorganized territory), form the United States of America.

In 1850, the year in which Congress adopted extensive compromises to ease the growing tensions between North and South in the country, Virginia delegates once again met in Richmond to settle problems between East and West in its own state.
From the initial list, most of the counties in the Shenandoah Valley were excluded due to their control by Confederate troops and a large number of local Confederate sympathizers.
The United States Constitution says a new state must gain approval from the original state, which never occurred in the case of West Virginia.

During the ascendancy of the Mongols, many notable leaders, including Hulegu (the first Ilkhan), belonged to this church, and though reliable statistics are not available, it is likely that this church, whose remnants today number at most a few million, boasted the largest population of any Christian denomination.

Washington -- The United States has officially removed Iraq from its list of state sponsors of terrorism to reflect the fundamental change in the country's leadership and policies, as well as to show support for Iraq's interim government, says State Department spokesman Richard Boucher.
It was removed on October 20, when Secretary of State Colin Powell formally announced the change in the Federal Register, Boucher said during a Washington briefing October 22.
Boucher said the United States had to wait until the new Iraqi government was in place and was able to provide these assurances before formal steps could be taken to end sanctions.
