State subsidies for religious teachers, at both public and private schools, constitute one of the benefits provided to religious societies that is not granted to other religious organizations.

The recapitulation of personnel for 1926-1928 lists the number of troops present for duty on 1 January, the number of enlisted, and losses during the year, and the total number of troops present for duty at the end of the year.

In 1874, Houston defeated the radical incumbent David Lewis and became governor of the state.
Alabama was eager to fund the railroads, which brought the state to the brink of bankruptcy.
