Money raised in the United States by al-Zawahiri helped finance two other ambitious terror operations, according to the confessed terrorists: the 1995 bombing of the Egyptian Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, which killed 17 diplomats, and the training of pilots for a planned spectacular hang-glider assault on an Egyptian prison to free jailed Jihad members.

Pride and arrogance were always the sins for which the prophets reproached the people and their leaders.
After all, to be civilized means that people living together, originally in a city state (hence the “civi” part of the word), had to have commonly accepted standards of conduct if any kind of civil order were to prevail.
What I have repeatedly stated is that whatever atheists’ moral behavior standards may be, those standards came originally from religion.  That is simply an historical fact.  I challenge atheists to find a single moral standard, from anywhere, any culture, any time that did not arise as part of that society’s metaphysical religion.
