 Chapter 660 — Apprenticeship and Training; Workforce Development
Employees of state agencies and political subdivisions may be recognized and registered as apprentices, and may serve on apprenticeship committees when approved by the State Apprenticeship and Training Council in conformity with ORS 660.002 to 660.210.
Where an individual apprentice who is employed by a state agency or political subdivision wishes to participate in an apprenticeship and training program, the council may approve program standards which set forth a progressive wage within the salary structure range for journeymen employed by such state agency or political subdivision.
(1) State joint apprenticeship committees may be formed in each apprenticeable occupation for the purpose of promoting and coordinating the apprenticeship goals of that occupation and of developing statewide standards and related instructional material for a course of study in that occupation.

State crime legislation in 2001 also prominently included measures to address community supervision of offenders, sending fewer non-violent offenders to prison or providing options to mandatory minimum terms.
State legislation in 2001 requires significant expansion of state DNA databases that house samples from convicted offenders and can be compared to physical evidence in unsolved crimes.
The state police will report to the Legislature on the pace at which samples are being collected and analyzed and status of fund assessments.

 MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
SB 2390 directs the State Board of Education to develop a list of conflict resolution and peer mediation materials and models that address responsible decision-making, the causes and effects of school violence and harassment, cultural diversity and nonviolent methods for resolving conflict, including peer mediation.
The list will be available to local school administrative units and school buildings by the beginning of the 2002-2003 school year.
A major initiative between the states of Mississippi and Louisiana on the issue of hunting and fishing licenses was agreed upon in the session’s final week, ending a "license fee" war that had lasted for almost a year.

It soon became apparent to ARRL leaders that Amateur Radio needed one unified effort encompassing all the needed amendments to the Communications Act: FCC authority to adopt RFI-rejection standards, to use volunteers in the administration and preparation of amateur exams, and to enlist volunteers for monitoring the airwaves for rules violators.
The only thing S. 929 did not contain when it passed the Senate in September was ARRL's hope for giving the FCC the authority to require a license at the point of sale for transmitters, to deal with the growing problem of "bootleggers" on the airwaves.

The purpose of this proposition is to stabilize spending in general, to prohibit transferring of special funds to the state general fund, and to protect school districts, cities, counties, etc. from manipulation of their funding by the state.
Unfortunately, the state legislature has used its power to redraw districts as an opportunity to draw them in such a way that not one incumbent state legislator from either party lost his/her seat in the last election (November 2004).
A largely one-time state cost, potentially in the low tens of millions of dollars, to cover the funding gap between the time when drug rebates are collected by the state and when the state pays funds to pharmacies for drug discounts provided to consumers.
