		Back in Burns’ old stomping grounds they have this timely little motto: Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto or “Let the good of the people be supreme law.” Burns has, of course forgone valuing the good of the people in favor of personal enrichment and a strangle hold on his meal ticket.
		As for our own state motto, I have always chosen to translate it that the land is the gold and silver as well as harboring it for exploration, but I guess, it could be translated as a land obsessed with gold and silver, at least for some.
