I served with the Royal Navy from 1956 to 1967 and the RNR until 1981 leaving as a CPOSA (S).
These guns gave the class the greatest fire-power of any cruiser the Royal Navy had ever built, with the water cooled 6-inch and 3-inch guns capable of firing 20 and 90 rounds per minute per gun respectively (although this rate of fire would empty the magazines in a few minutes).
Blake was the last cruiser in the Royal Navy and in December 1979 ended a 100 year tradition of RN Cruisers.
