Submarine film is a subgenre of war film which takes place in a submarine below the surface of the ocean.
Films of this subgenre typically focus on a small but determined crew of submariners battling against not only their enemies, but also the extreme pressure of being underwater (as their submarines typically descend past "hull crush depth", a depth which varies from movie to movie) and being in such proximity to one another.
This is a list of movies in which a submarine plays a significant role in the storyline.

The most bizarre scene: a fat bearded guy who doesn't appear for the rest of the movie mocks the child for being 8 years old and unable to speak.

I know a lot of us mentioned this in the other thread, but I figure there were enough bad movies this year to warrant a separate thread.
Now for the 5 movies that were so appallingly bad they made me cringe, the ones you just don't want to waste your time with...
It was fun; but it sticks on this list because the fun that I had came from laughing at the pure crappiness being displayed.

Atomic Submarine never achieves greatness, but it's never dull either (try watching the big-budget Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and tell me which is really more entertaining).
I saw this movie on the BIG screen when I was 6, and I was under the seat most of the time back in 1958.
A plastic submarine in an aquarium is hard to accept but all in all this movie is a pretty enjoyable watch.

A little joke going around the studio on the movie's title, it was said IF there was a sequel, the ad would read "From the people who gave you HEAD".

Whoever compiled this list probably grew up in the Vietnam era, and was affected by these films, which is understandable.
Although the movie was ostensibly set on Guadalcanal, there was no feel whatsoever for the campaign, the problems, the terrain (the hilly parts of the movie were OK, but much of the campaign was fought in jungle conditions, completely absent from the movie).
I hate to bail out on this Top 10/Top 20 war movies thing, but I'm not even sure there should even BE a Top 10 War Movies list.

 Nautical Movies
I went to what purported to be a list of nautical movies, and there I found listed 4 or 5 documentaries, a couple of WWII submarine movies, and about a half a dozen sailing movies.
My Criteria: The movies on this list have something to do with sailing (there are two exceptions, one notable - The African Queen, the other whimsical - The Wind in the Willows), whether it be yachts or tall ships, modern or historical.
This movie, in my opinion, is runner-up to White Squall and The Bounty as the best sailing movie not based on classic literature, and is sitting on the fence for that 5th star.

While his future submarine adventure series Seaquest DSV got weird fast, he struck sci-fi gold with the spiritual remake of Buck Rogers, Farscape.
Arguably what could have been his best show, Firefly, an amazing "space western" was sadly cancelled far too early and became just the second TV show ever to be revived as a movie series due to fan support, the only other one being Star Trek.
And, amazingly, he's still creating shows after his death, his old TV movies and unfleshed ideas being the basis for Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda.

Your list is great, I saw Persona for the first time last night and really enjoyed it; The one film I haven't seen her is Sherlock Jr.- though I love the other Keaton films I've seen.
Kirk Douglas didn't start making movies until the 1940s, which made me think about who is left who made movies in the 30s.
