Toronto retains electric streetcars, has an extensive system of urban light rail, monorails and subways, and is experimenting with dieselectric buses - probably the most technologically diverse transit system in North America, and so a testbed for transport technologies.
Toronto is an interesting city on which to test this structure, as it has many rivers, a rich set of open ravine parks, and an extensive sewer system, all of which takes water from Lake Ontario (via pumps or rain) and sends it back to there.
Toronto is probably the world's most diverse large city, as over 50% of its population of 2.4 million were born in some other country (than Canada).

The history summarized in the top of the tables could be fleshed out, and notable stations could get a paragraph or two.
I've done up Scarborough RT but since that one's an older article, I'll put up the changes once we're ready to roll.
If any station has a long enough text, it could perhaps get its own page ( Lower Bay being a notable example).

Transit Toronto - Content: FAQ - Subways and Scarborough RT
This was done because a traditional subway crossover probably wouldn't have fit, and also because, with platforms on the sides of the stations, only one of the tracks would see use anyway (just like at McCowan).
These were piddling portions of routes that weren't to become really useful until they were built in full, but it was the first real bit of subway construction in fifteen years, so give them that.
Subway construction was extremely expensive, and the high density corridors that best supported subway development had, by and large, already been served by subways.

Many people unknowingly pass through this second station every day; the tunnel that goes under the station so that riders can move between northbound and southbound platforms is a portion of this underground station, with most of the excess infrastructure walled off.

 Metro station
Some metro systems, such as those of Montreal, Stockholm, and Moscow, are famous for the beautiful architecture and public art in their metro systems.
In such a case, tunnels or overhead stations can often also be used just to cross the street.
Often there are several entrances for one station, saving one from having to cross the street.

 Scarborough RT
They would enter the station from the east, unload passengers, run onto an elevated loop west of the station to reverse, return to the station, and call at a second platform to load passengers before departing eastward.
Because of another curve at the east end of the station, it was not possible to add a scissors crossover there, so the station was reduced to a single terminal track with the loading platform on one side and the unloading platform on the other.
Almost all of the line is elevated or at grade; a short underground section is located just north of Ellesmere station to underpass the rail tracks.
