BioMed Central | Full text | A methodology to estimate the potential to move inpatient to one day surgery
The eligibility of a procedure to be treated as a day case was mainly established on three a priori criteria: surgical access (endoscopic or not), the invasiveness of the procedure and the size of the operated organ.
The coherence and the content validity of the proposed list are ensured by the classification algorithm, grounded on the surgical route, the complexity of the surgical deed and the mass of injured tissue.
Finally, a few surgical procedures identified which qualified as day cases by the classification algorithm, were neither featured in the Swiss consensual list nor performed as day cases in canton Vaud, and were only discussed in anecdotal literature reports: corneal transplantation [54], large skin grafting [55], reconstruction of external ear [56], testicular surgery [57].

Surgical procedures have very long and daunting names, for those who even bother to look them up.
One must simply "dissect" the surgical procedure (no pun intended), much like a college Literature student would do.
This may seem elementary, but there are many people who seem daunted of relatively "simple" surgical procedures, especially when they are being performed on themselves, or a close friend/family member.

The expanded list of ASC services together with the improved payment accuracy under the revised payment system should encourage the selection of the most appropriate setting for the delivery of high quality, efficient care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Beginning in CY 2008, payment for office-based surgical procedures would be limited to the lesser of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule nonfacility practice expense payment or the otherwise applicable ASC rate.  Office-based procedures that are on the ASC list as of January 1, 2007 would be exempt from the payment limitation.
With the expected improved payment accuracy of the revised ASC payment system, we are proposing to significantly expand the list of surgical procedures for which ASCs may receive a facility fee by excluding from payment only those procedures that pose a significant safety risk or require an overnight stay.

Lines and wrinkles are usually caused by the over exposure to the sun, environmental pollution and the body’s natural aging process.
Whilst these non-surgical procedures cannot offer the significant and lasting change to lines and wrinkle removal that cosmetic surgery procedure can create, they can remove for extended periods, those lines and wrinkles that make you look older.
Perhaps one reason non-surgical procedures are so popular, is that they can easily and professionally performed in a short period of time.
