The word Bad is normally used as a prefix (Bad Vilbel) or a suffix (Marienbad, Wiesbaden) to denote that the town in question is a spa town.
However not all Kurorte are spa towns; there are also Kurorte which are visited for their pure air (Luftkurorte, for example).

Christian RUGE born circa 1804, a Protestant shoemaker, was listed from the town of Muschten near Schwiebus, Brandenburg when he emigrated in 1850 to South Australia with wife Leonore [born circa 1807] and son Wilhelm [born circa 1836].
A possible son Johann Friedrich RUGE [born circa 1829] is listed as from Beutnitz, Kreis Crossen.

The 150 by 75 kilometer Black forest is awe inspiring and is criss crossed by multiple tracks which serves as ski runs during the winter time when this is their prime resort area - This is a view down to the town Freudenstadt from a cycling track through the woods.
We saw our first KFC of europe and stopped to be slammed by the price list!
