 Planet Ark : Sweden picks 10 towns for greenhouse gas cuts
STOCKHOLM - Sweden's state energy agency said yesterday it had selected 10 municipalities for a state-subsidised project to cut emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and reduce energy consumption.
The project is in line with Sweden's goal to curb climate change by cutting CO2 emissions by two percent during 1990-2010 and will stimulate institutions and companies to save energy by increasing efficient energy use, the agency said in a statement.
Another goal was to boost the use of renewable energy such as solar, wind, biomass and small hydropower, it said.
