Trigonometry (from the Greek trigonon = three angles and metro = measure) is a branch of mathematics dealing with angles, triangles and trigonometric functions such as sine, cosine and tangent.
It has some relationship to geometry, though there is disagreement on exactly what that relationship is; for some, trigonometry is just a subtopic of geometry.

 Careers and Trigonometry
I need to know a general overview of how trigonometry is used in the profession and at least one specific problem that the person in the career would solve with trigonometry.
The point is that trigonometry is so basic and so intertwined in so many aspects of math, that to list very specific professions would be hopelessly incomplete.
Trigonometry is essentially used wherever we deal with distances and angles.

 Hi NSF reviewer
The Trigonometry Brain is similar to the Algebra Brain, but lacks many of the features found only in the Algebra Brain.
Trigonometry relies on a thorough understanding of algebra for success.
Therefore, we include a "Fundamentals of Trigonometry" thread that details some of the basic knowledge required to be successful in trigonometry, such as functions, an understanding of real numbers (both rational and irrational), and a list of algebraic concepts that are useful to know in Trigonometry.

I have compiled similar lists for Trigonometry and Calculus so that you can see how the topics are distributed among Math 225 and Math 226.
However, it is the case that most will have seen right triangle trigonometry up through the law of sines and the law of cosines in their high school geometry course.
