An article of clothing (also known as dress or attire) is any garment worn on the human body for protection against the elements, protection against work conditions, modesty, adornment, as a statement of socioeconomic class or religious affiliation, or as a means of maintaining a power hierarchy.
Clothing may be intentionally oversized for reasons of fashion or personal preference.
Part of the surface of clothes may be made retroreflective (small parts of coats, large parts of special high-visibility clothing for rescue workers etc.).

Clothing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In its broadest sense, clothing is defined as coverings for the torso and limbs as well as coverings for the hands (gloves), feet (shoes, sandals, boots), and head (hats, caps).
Because clothing and adornment are closely related to ideas of human sexuality and sexual display, humans may develop clothing fetishes.
The clothing industry is concentrated outside of western Europe and America, and garment workers often have to labor under poor conditions.

Clothing: Definition and Links by Encyclopedian.com - All about Clothing
Clothing may be oversized; conventionally this means too large, but it may also be intentional for reasons of fashion or personal preference.
Wood and metal are sometimes used as clothing materials, for example in clogs or protective clothing, and in fasteners and stiffeners.
Some clothing materials are fetishized by some people, perhaps on the basis that the material forms a "second skin" that acts as a fetishistic surrogate for the wearer's own skin.

Waistcoat   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
A waistcoat is a sleeveless garment which buttons in the front and is cut from the same material as the rest of the suit.
It is considered bad form to wear a belt with a waistcoat; instead, one should wear suspenders (braces in the United Kingdom) underneath it.
During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, waistcoats were often incredibly elaborate and brightly-coloured, even garish, until fashion dictated in the late nineteenth century that waistcoats be the same colour as the rest of a man's suit.

Clothing oneself as an ancient Celt is one of the most difficult parts of re-enacting.
As a bit of general discourse about the general clothing of the Irish, British, and Continental Celts, I personally find it very ironic that the early Celts were seen as "barbaric" by the established European cultural center (Rome and the Romans) because the men wore pants rather than loose tunics.
Here is a quick list of sites that provide help for other time periods, or, for the simple and universal "T-tunic and pants" set useful for generic event attendance.
