Zoran Djindjic was born in Bosanski Samac, a small town on the Croatian/Bosnian border in Bosnia -- nowadays in the Bosnian Serb-led Republika Srpska (Republic of Srpska) -- on August 1st, 1952.
In 1997, Djindjic and his party boycotted polls in Serbia, and were subsequently excluded from parliamentary life in the republic.

Antisemitic activity in Serbia is usually confined to graffiti on walls and buildings, usually belonging to Jewish individuals and organizations, but sometimes on non-Jewish ones because the perpetrators assume that the Jews control everything.

Serbia and Montenegro (SaM) is a constitutional republic consisting of the relatively large Republic of Serbia and the much smaller Republic of Montenegro.* In March 2002, the two republics, with European Union (EU) mediation, negotiated the Belgrade Agreement, in which they agreed to redefine the joint state.
Additionally, police at a rally for missing persons failed to protect the HLC director from repeated pushing by a small group of opponents, and the MUP threatened to file assault charges against the HLC director for slapping one of the individuals who was pushing her to the ground.
Since January, the IOM has seen far fewer trafficked women in Serbia, but it is not clear to what extent this trend reflected a decline in trafficking and to what extent it was due to other factors, such as better concealment after regional anti-trafficking operations in 2002.

However, a brunt of this is felt most acutely in Southern Serbia by the ethnic Albanian community, yet despite dissatisfaction with the former regime's policies, ethnic Albanians did not systematically withdraw from State institutions as was the case in Kosovo in the early 1990's.
A lack of regional co-operation and standardisation of university degrees, and especially the previously lower standards of Pristina University (during the parallel system), mean that ethnic Albanians face problems having their diplomas recognised or long delays for official approval.
Serbia is a country of destination for illegal migrants, but also a transit route to the neighbouring countries and the EU.

There are few employment opportunities for the Serbs living in these enclaves, and because many fled from cities, they do not have the desire or the necessary skills to live in rural areas.
Trips to cultural events are also arranged free of charge to give the youth opportunities that they normally would not be able to experience due to lack of funds.

In particular, according to an analysis done by the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia, the law is said to give too much authority to the lawyers' chambers--both at the republic and federal levels--which the Helsinki Committee alleges would enable the regime to exercise stricter control over the profession.
In the 5 years since the Tribunal was established, the Milosevic regime has yet to transfer one Serbian or Bosnian Serb indicted to the Hague, in violation of its obligations under repeated U.N. Security Council resolutions and its commitments under the Dayton Accords.
