Carabella, the game's blue-skinned protagonist, who wears orange platform sneakers and has a predilection for goth music, must sign up for classes, go to a supermarket, get a bank account and use her student ID to get into a school dance.
The game assigns the player points for balancing privacy with convenience depending on the choices made on her behalf about what information she gives to the supermarket or how she shops online or sends e-mail.

Electric Artists, a New York marketing and research firm, surveyed 1,000 games and found that 40 percent of those who heard a song they liked on a video game went out and bought the CD that contained the tune.

It's an interesting phenomenon, really, since the game industry has already adopted a voluntary and stringent rating system for its games -- giving parents a heads-up about content that might be objectionable.
This current push would make it a $10,000 fine if any child buys a violent video game, and adding to the draconian measure, retailers could lose their licenses as well.
