How does this sound to you: replace all the redirects with stubs that contain the information from the current Villages of Barnstable article, and then replace the Villages of Barnstable article with a "List of..." article that has links to each of the stub pages for individual villages.
I see what you mean, but I don't want people looking for information on specific Barnstable villages to see that the link to (say) West Barnstable is uncreated and assume that there's no information on it, when they can at least get some information from the Villages of Barnstable article.
OK, here's what I'm thinking for the future: rather than redirecting all of the villages to an article that talks about the villages collectively, it would be much better to leave them uncreated, so that people will add information to them, rather than having redirects.

Boston is the largest city, located at the inmost point of Massachusetts Bay, at the mouth of the Charles River, the longest river entirely within Massachusetts.
Politically, the only difference between a town and a city is that a town is governed under the Town Meeting or Representative Town Meeting form of government, whereas a city has a city council (and may or may not have a mayor, a city manager, or both).
The government of Suffolk County was substantially integrated with the city government of Boston more than one hundred years ago, to the extent that the members of the Boston city council are ex officio the Suffolk County Commissioners, and Boston's treasurer and auditor fulfill the same offices for the county.

NEW YORK, one of the Middle Atlantic states of the U.S., bordered on the N by the Canadian provinces of Ontario and QuÉbec; on the E by Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut; on the SE by the Atlantic Ocean; on the S by New Jersey and Pennsylvania; and on the W by Pennsylvania and Ontario.
New York’s determination to increase its use of the harbor area and the Hudson River shipping lanes led to friction with New Jersey, and its claim to Vermont caused a conflict with the residents of that area until Vermont became a state in 1790.
New York was the preeminent U.S. state in commerce and manufacturing from the early 19th century until the late 1960s, when it began to be surpassed by California; in the 1990s it continued to be a leading component of the U.S. economy and remained first in many branches of economic activity.
