This was the movement of 110,000 people of Japanese descent from their homes in an area bordering the Pacific coast into 10 wartime communities constructed in remote areas between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Mississippi River.
Japanese language schools of the type common on the west coast prior to evacuation are expressly forbidden at all relocation centers.
The purpose of this training is twofold: (1) To equip the evacuee residents so that they will be able to play a more productive role in agriculture or industry outside the centers and (2) to provide potential replacements at the centers for those who go out on indefinite leave.

At this great milestone in the history of the Club, it is fitting that we should remember those who have done so much in the past.
