Litchfield County is roughly contiguous with the portion of the Appalachian mountain range known as the Litchfield Hills.
In the county the population was spread out with 24.60% under the age of 18, 5.70% from 18 to 24, 29.80% from 25 to 44, 25.70% from 45 to 64, and 14.20% who were 65 years of age or older.

I do not actually live in Litchfield County, but my roots are here and my interest in genealogy and the USGenWeb project in particular, have led me to volunteer my time.
Litchfield County is located in the NW part of CT; contains 921 sq mi; and the elevation ranges from approx 250 ft to 2380 ft. Litchfield County was named for Litchfield, England; created October 14, 1751 from Hartford and Fairfield counties.
The three grapevines are thought to represent the three settlements (New Haven, Saybrook and Connecticut) which came together to form the state.
