Marie, the Ottawa remained near the mouth of the French River and on the large Islands in Lake Huron.
The Fort Harmar Treaty (January, 1789) established the Muskingum River as the boundary of settlement, but this was not honored by the either frontiersmen or the hostile faction of the alliance.
Since their villages were either on the Maumee in northwest Ohio or the Huron River in southeast Michigan at his time, the Detroit Ottawa did not lose any land in exchange for the $1,000 they received, but the defeat of the alliance led to social disintegration and breakdown of tribal authority after the Greenville Treaty.

At the conclusion of the war of 1812, a treaty of peace was concluded with that portion of the Wyandots who had joined the English, the Wyandots of Sandusky having preserved their fidelity to the United States throughout the war.
In 1842, a treaty was concluded between the United States and the Wyandots, by the provisions of which they sold their lands in Ohio, and removed to the junction of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers.
This reservation was situated in the fork of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, and extended six miles on each river from their junction.

Franklin County was included in the tract of landed ceded to the Great and Little Osage Indians, November 10, 1808, and re-ceded by them to the government in 1825.
The members of this confederated tribe hold their land in severalty without right of alienation, except to other members of the tribe, and this only with the consent of the Secretary of the Interior.
The land now included in Harrison Township, in the center of the county was thrown open to settlement in 1865, when the Ottawas were removed.

Middle Point, a hamlet on the Little Auglaize River, is about halfway between Delphos and Van Wert - hence the name, Middle Point.
The Conrail tracks still slice through the village, but the Pennsylvania Railroad station in Middle Point was torn down in the late 1960s, and there hasn't been much traffic through town since, except for 1997 when Pardon led nearby Lincolnview High to a 27-0 record and the state championship.

Planned, marked and mapped by volunteers, the Buckeye Trail Association (BTA) was established in 1959, originally to complete a trail from the Ohio River to Lake Erie; the association's goals were later modified to circle the state.
The trail follows along the old towpath for 3.0 miles, on an embankment between the canal and the river, with SR424 on the far side of the canal.
The narrow embankment between the river and canal widens, and the next mile or so is a virtually linear 40-site fee campground; the fee station, unfortunately, is three miles down the trail.
