Chalfont St Giles is a village in south east Buckinghamshire in the United Kingdom, on the edge of the Chilterns, 25 miles from London, and near to Seer Green, Jordans, Chalfont St Peter, Little Chalfont and Amersham.
Chalfont means chalk spring, in reference to the water carrying capacities of the local terrain.
Chalfont St Giles is also the burial place of Bertram Mills, and the birthplace of J.T. Hearne, one of the greatest bowlers of the 1890s and 1900s, who also died there in 1944.

The owners of the land on the higher ground however (including Lord Chesham) were pleased to sell and in 1889 the railway reached what is now known as Little Chalfont.
This name is thought to originate from the fact that roads go from Little Chalfont to Chalfont St. Giles and Chalfont St. Peter, London gentry bringing their horses from London to the hunts at these two villages could accordingly easily find their way to the meets.
In 1892 the railway was extended from Chalfont Road to Chesham and eventually to Amersham and then on to Aylesbury and through to Yorkshire.

Little Chalfont is the village outlined previously, with the tube stop called Chalfont and Latimer, and a dangerous through route.
I wouldn't call it the capital of the Chalfonts - there isn't really one - it's all strung out through the countryside which is arable farmland.
If you walk along the River Misbourne from Chalfont St Giles church, you come across Chalfont Common half way which is very built up but leads via Rickmansworth Lane to a lovely old country pub to the east, once called the Dumb Bell and now known as The Bell, I believe.

The county council is looking to put a 7.5 tonne weight restriction on Elizabeth Avenue, Little Chalfont, as lorries have been using the road as a cut-through to bypass the centre of Little Chalfont to get to Amersham.
Residents have contacted the council as they say they cannot leave their cars in the road as it gets congested and they are concerned for parents and children who use the school in Bell Lane.
