 Little Doe River - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Little Doe River rises on the southern slope of Yellow Mountain at the confluence Hampton and Sugar Hollow Creeks in Roan Mountain State Park in Carter County just south of the small town of Roan Mountain, Tennessee.
At the settlement of Tiger Valley it is joined by the flow of Tiger Creek and turns north, flowing around the base of Fork Mountain.
Its confluence with the Doe River is found at the town of Hampton.

Unlike the San Antonio River, which is controlled and channelized for much of its length in Bexar County, the Medina flows relatively undisturbed through healthy and varied riparian habitat throughout its length.
Due to the general west-to-east flow of the Medina, it does not appear to be a major avenue for northbound migrants, but the tall trees and brushy undergrowth pull in a surprising variety of species.
The river banks are dominated by large cypress, with some sycamore, pecan, elm, willow and cottonwood.

In 1950 the Shearerdale-Carpio children were brought to Doe River by bus and we now have an attendance of over seventy from grades 1-9 inclusive.
The Post Office was given the name of Doe River and the present Doe River District was formed Arthur Hollingshead was the first white baby born at Doe River -- September 11, 1930 and on August 16, 1935 the first twins of the district were born to Edna and Mary Rylette.
In 1929 the Doe Creek Community Hall was built, unfortunately, it was burned to the ground in the fall of 1930.

In the southern section of the Cherokee National Forest the Tellico River and its tributaries such as the Bald and North Rivers and tributaries of the Little Tennessee River such as Citico Creek are good producers for both those looking for easy access or willing to hike in.
The entire river from where it emerges from the dam till it begins forming a lake at Bluff City does have numerous access points and is fishable.
US19E runs along the Doe and Little Doe for much of their length and then connects to the roads in Roan Mountain State Park for fishing the tributaries.

US 19E runs along the Doe and Little Doe for much of their length and then connects to the roads in Roan Mountain State Park for fishing the tributaries.
There is no developed access on the upper Nolichucky River (except at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park) and you can't go downstream from there by boat, due to a 5-ft. drop off ledge at the lower end of the Park.

I guess a very small opening for the river would have caused the water to wash out the tracks.
A testament to this is the fact that flooding on the Doe River never affected the track at this location.
The bridge was almost 120 feet long just to cross the Little Doe that is normally only 12-15 feet wide and about 6 inches deep.

On March 24, 1979, two rock hunters searching in the river bed underneath the Tempe Bridge in Tempe, Arizona came across a partially buried skeleton of a little child.
The body was partially buried by the far north pillar of the bridge and above the high water mark from floods the prior December.
This case was reopened because the Tempe Police Department recently received a federal grant to pay for reexamining unsolved homicides.
