 Interview with Keith Grimes
Eva recast it, not in as dramatic a way as she redid "Over the Rainbow," but she still had her distinctive version of it, and the band's arrangement of it was very good.
Eva had an artistic ability to make music that came from a deep place spiritually, she was a communicator, she had a beautiful voice and the ability to communicate with great depth.
Eva was not a very public person, and the more public things became, that would have created pressures, I don't know how she would have handled those, I don't know what level of success she'd be comfortable with.

 Mary Sue and Little Eva
The character of Eva ends with a score of forty-three points, qualifying her as a Mary Sue according to the test.
Other debatable questions are if Eva dies or suffers punishment for a crime she did not commit and if her "empathy" or "prophecy" qualify as "special powers," or if her glimpses into heaven qualify as "Transdimensional travel or communication." It probably would have surprised Stowe to see her characters traits reappear in modern fanfiction.
Eva is undoubtedly a Mary Sue character in the Harriet Beecher Stowe's fanfiction version of the Bible but it does not devalue her.

Kensuke means well, and he is by no means a bad or immature person, but he is very ignorant to the feelings of the Eva pilots.
He is fairly oblivious to what the Eva pilots have to bear, and I doubt that it is simply for the fact that he is not aware of it, especially as he saw Shinji's pain first hand in episodes 3 when he and Touji were taken into the entry plug of Unit 01.
This ignorance to the greater scheme, the self centered nature of his character, and his fixative nature all illustrate him in a very child-like way.

In this format, Tom thus becomes a character in Eva's story, which may raise a question.
At least two other volumes were subsequently published in this series: The Story of Little Tom and Maggie from The Mill on the Floss of George Eliot (1903) and The Story of Little Peter from the Peter Simple of Captain Marryat (1904).
