On the north side of the valley, opposite the granite spur we first have a perpendicular bluff, the top of which is 1,800 feet above the valley; the talc: at the haze is about five hundred feet above the valley, leaving a precipice of about 1,300 feet.
A singular feature of this valley is the total absence of talus or debris at the base of the bluffs, excepting at one place in front of the falls.

When Tom Mulderrig and I went to Little Grass Valley on Friday, October 3, we didn't see any marvels of nature like Bartosh witnessed, but we got a sample of the fine fishing for brown, rainbow and kokanee fishing that this lake offers.
The DFG doesn't plant Little Grass Valley with brown trout, but stocks approximately 12,900 rainbows (7,000 pounds) and 40,000 kokanee salmon each year, according to Dennis Redfern at the American River Fish Hatchery.

Englebright Reservoir off Highway 20 between Marysville and Grass Valley doesn't offer huge trout, but it's "boater's only" campsites east of Boston Bar where water skiing isn't allowed let visitors catch limits of planters from in front of their tents.
Bullards Bar, either from Highway 49 north of Grass Valley or from Marysville Road via Highway 20 and E 21 from Marysville has solid brown and rainbow trout action in the North Yuba Arm, but may be better known for its kokanee that hit small spinners.
