The bottom was a thicket growing along the banks of the little stream - a thicket the likes of which I had never seen (nor want to see again!).
The plants were wedged in little pockets in the rock, and I found many growing along cracks in the rock up on a very shallow ledge, amongst ferns and right in mosses.
