The Hillsboro and Cincinnati Railroad was chartered in 1846 to run a line between Hillsboro and O'Bannon Creek in Loveland on the Little Miami's route.
The Little Miami Railroad leased in perpetuity all assets of the CandX on March 18, 1869 while the CandX continued to exist as a separate corporation.
On February 23, 1870, the Little Miami Railraod leased in perpetuity, renewable forever, all of its assets, including the DXandP, the DandW, and the CandX, to the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and St. Louis Railroad, retroactive to December 1, 1869.

In 1842 the line was constructed overland to its first bridging of the Little Miami at Miamitown (Clermont Co.) Its followed the east bank of the small river to Loveland (Clermont Co.) and reached Morrow (Warren Co.), where it bridged Todd's Fork where the small river entered the Little Miami, in November 1844.
In 1853 the Little Miami and Columbus & Xenia formalized the arrangement by forming a partnership, the LM&C&X. With the opening of connections to Cleveland and points east via the CC&C through Columbus, the Xenia-Springfield line with its connection to Sandusky declined in importance and was known therafter as tthe Springfield Branch.
In 1868 the partnership was dissolvedand the Little Miami leased the C&X and all of its holdings.

 The Little Miami State Park Trail
The Little Miami Trailis a paved bike/hike/skate trail following an abandoned railroad route, mostly close to the Little Miami State and National Scenic River, from Milford, an eastern suburb of Cincinnati, to Xenia, Yellow Springs, and Springfield, 69 miles north.
The railroad had been abandoned for years before the trail was built, so for most of its length, the path is shaded most of the time by overhanging trees.
Exploring the woods towards the river, surprisingly tall pedestals remain from a road bridge built to service the former railroad workers' village there; the old rail bridge is being used to convey water mains across the river for growing suburbs on the hilltop areas.

By March 1844, the Little Miami had weathered the financial storms and was rapidly building north toward Morrow.

Hunt, the president, is an experienced railroad man, having formerly been division superintendent of the Missouri Pacific railway at Winfield, Kans., in February, 1888, becoming general superintendent of the Ohio and Northwestern road, and becoming president and general manager for the existing company upon its organization.
The terminus proper of the narrow-gauge is at the station of the Little Miami railroad, Butler and Pearl streets.
Subsequently it was extended, and the owners constructed, under the steam railroad law an inclined plane and obtained the right under ordinances passed December 1, 1871, and October 27, 1876, to extend existing tracks in such manner as to reach the incline, both top and bottom.

From here to the east, the original line was the Little Miami Railroad, which was the first railroad into Cincinnati, and only the second chartered railroad in Ohio.
This used to be a major station for the railroad, in use until the opening of Union Terminal.

As Miami commissioners await information on the price of land for a 60-acre park in Little Haiti, business owners caught inside its proposed boundaries say they don't want to move.
The study, by Post Buckley Schuh ~Jernigan, estimated land acquisitions for the Little Haiti park would cost the city $53 million to $75 million, according to the firm's Jan. 16 memo to the city.
Funds for a Little Haiti park were approved Nov. 13, 2001, as part of a $225 million bond to enhance neighborhoods and improve safety.

The purpose of this project was to correct and update the information on the main branch of the Little Miami River contained in the Ohio Division of Watercraft pamphlet "Boating on Ohio’s Streams: 2 Southwest Section," which was last published 10/95.
In June of 1977 the Dan Beard Council, Troop 858, of the Boy Scouts of America produced a map of "The Little Miami River Canoe Trail." It began at the Grinnell Road bridge which was designated as river mile 0.0 near John Bryan State Park and ended at the Kellogg Ave.
Also, there is no take-out point at the mouth of the Little Miami River and it is dangerous to canoe on the Ohio River due to large waves caused by power boats and barges.

The earliest transactions of land in this part of the country were military surveys, which reserved all the land between the Little Miami and the Scioto Rivers for the soldiers of Virginia who fought in the Revolutionary War.
A narrow gauge railroad, which was then called the Little Miami Railroad (a division of the present Norfolk and Western), laid its tracks through the current Terrace Park Country Club and Spiritual Center.
