Little Nemo is the main fictional character in a series of weekly comic strips by Winsor McCay (1871-1934) that appeared in the New York Herald and William Randolph Hearst's New York American newspapers from October 15, 1905—April 23, 1911 and April 30, 1911—1913 respectively.
The last panel in each strip was always one of Nemo in or near his bed waking up, often being scolded by one of his parents or grandparents for crying out in his sleep and waking them.
Nemo is awakened by the sight of Flip wearing his WAKE UP hat.

The strips, along with most of the rest of McCay's works, fell into the public domain (Property rights that are held by the public at large) worldwide on January 1, 2005.

Nemo was an immediate hit and McCay, who liked nothing better than to draw (and never seemed to have enough money, no matter how much he made), took to the boards on June 11, 1906.
When Little Nemo made it to Broadway in 1908, McCay was performing his chalk-talk across the street and had to miss a portion of opening night.
The Little Nemo film was released to theater and used in his act, as was his second.

As Little Nemo you can jump and throw giant candy in addition to moving back and forth.
I guess Nemo is too big for the lizard and the Gorilla too big for Nemo to see out of unless he pokes holes in the gorilla's nipples and I don't think too many gorillas would sleep through a nipple piercing.
(Note: Little Nemo was a comic before being a video game, in like the 1920's.) I decided to look into it to see what they've done to the series and was horrified (or just trying to fill up space) at what I found.

This is a good book if you want to get a feel for Little Nemo, but not if you want to have a complete collection of the strips.
