 Little Nicky: Platinum Series (2000)
I didn’t see Nicky theatrically, but don’t blame me for the decline: I also never took in BD until it hit video, and that flick did well without me. Were it not for the success of the 1999 hit, it’d be easier to explain the failure of Nicky.
Nonetheless, Little Nicky was a generally unsatisfying film that stands as a weak entry in Adam Sandler’s résumé.
Little Nicky wasn’t a terrible film, but it failed to convey the talents of star Adam Sandler and his fine supporting cast well; it intermittently provided some wit and entertainment, but most of the flick lacked charm or flair.

Cinema Confidential Review: Little Nicky (2000)
In his latest endeavor, "Little Nicky," you can expect the blaring classic and contemporary rock songs to pop up in the soundtrack, the quirky, eccentric supporting characters to randomly enter various scenes, and the supposed moments of sentimentality to obscure the line between authenticity and total self-mockery.
Nicky has to bring his two brothers back to hell from earth in order to restore the balance between good and evil and re-empower his father.
Little Nicky doesn't shatter comedic boundaries or even present us with anything particularly new, but it does innovate upon a familiar comedic routine, bringing it back from the slumps with revitalized humor.

The story behind Nicky is a simple one and revolves around the young dullard son of the Devil named Nicky.
Nicky is good hearted and seems to actually care about people but that is about where the insight into his character ends because likely there is no more.
For the film, in my opinion, to have worked there would have to have been a sense of urgency as we rooted for Nicky to make it in the end.

 DVD REVIEW: "LITTLE NICKY"
As the ex-"Saturday Night Live" performer and star of films such as "Big Daddy," "The Waterboy" and "The Wedding Singer" has readily stated about himself, he's not particularly handsome or in the same acting league as his honored cohorts, and his films will never be confused with being Oscar contenders.
A scene where Sandler, the pooch and others sit around stoned will probably be one of the film's highlights for the target audience, but enough other amusing moments are present to entertain those who manage to lower their standards to see films like this.
Had the film been fortunate enough to be blessed with the presence of someone like Tim Burton ("Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands") and his wildly imaginative and macabre sense of comedy, it might actually have been rather good.

Little Nicky is surely not for everyone, but I did not find it particularly offensive.
The film is a comedy about Heaven and Hell, not a serious work of art, whose message is meant to be offensive or to be taken personally.
What little humor I could glean from this film not already seen in the commercials was so small and so insignificant, that laughing at it was not an option.

This film certainly isn't for everyone-but if like me you have a very unusual and (dare I say it?) slightly warped sense of humour it is a very good film.
While it has to be said that 'Little Nicky' is certainly not Adam Sandler's greatest ever movie, with quite a strange storyline (which however does work well), and at times some very chessy jokes, however it isn't his worst, and some of the jokes which are quite funny, make for a quite enjoyable little film.

SCREEN IT! ARTISTIC REVIEW: LITTLE NICKY
All of which leads to Sandler's latest film, "Little Nicky." Another high concept, lowest common denominator film, this picture further cements the belief that Sandler must have previously made some sort of pact with the Devil.
While the film obviously stands a far better chance of succeeding at the box office than does a snowball in Hell, one of these days the Devil's going to call Sandler on their contract and his inexplicable ride of stardom and success will be over.
Certainly not the worst film of the year but clearly far, far, far away from being good or even Sandler's best, "Little Nicky" rates as a 3.5 out of 10.

I personally enjoy most of his films and his persona, and would rate this film as one of his more ambitious endeavors, but far from his most entertaining.
