Little Round Top is the smaller of two rocky hills south of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Little Round Top is approximately 2 miles south of Gettysburg, with a rugged, steep slope of 130 feet above nearby Plum Run to the west (the peak is 550 feet (168 m) above sea level), strewn with large boulders.
Little Round Top was the starting point for a Union counterattack at dusk on July 2, conducted by the 3rd Division of the V Corps (the Pennsylvania Reserves) under Brig.

Between the LRT Museum and the Taneytown Road, in the immediate vicinity of the two remaining oak trees, stood the Rosensteel "homestead" occupied by Frances, Emory, and Bernard, during various periods of time.
Across the roadway, and extending for some distance along the area between the Taneytown Road and the back slopes LRT and BRT, was "The Round Top Park" (maps of 1890-95 show the location).
The Round Top Park was created by Frances Rosensteel and was the site of the famous ox roast of 1884 (I have 3 photos of this event).

 Reviews of Books about Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain
The Chapter that pertains to the 20th Maine's heroic stand on Little Round Top is "Little Round Top and the Peach Orchard." Coddington describes the "valor of the 20th Maine" and how it "stopped the Confederate advance." His section on the 20th Maine's defense in particular is great.
And Chamberlain, whether leading the 20th Maine in the defense of Little Round Top, dreaming longingly of his wife, or pondering the morality of sending his brother to a dangerous position, is an irresistible hero.
The buildup to the battle of Little Round Top is handled very well: lots of suspense, as the 20th Maine and the 15th Alabama (and both Northern and Southern armies) march towards the inevitable clash.

Here is a closeup of the 20th Maine monument, at Little Round Top, Gettysburg National Military Park, Gettysburg, PA. It was taken from "Chamberlain Avenue", which was once a road used by the old Civil War vets in the years after the battle.
This is a picture of the "Prisoner Boulder", at the foot of the 20th Maine's line at Little Round Top.
They were joined by some US Sharpshooters, who had been driven off Big Round Top to the south by the 15th Alabama in their advance on Little Round Top.

The Confederate force designated to take possession of Little Round Top appears to have been Robertson's brigade, consisting of the 1st, 4th, and 5th Texas and the 3d Arkansas; and Law's brigade, consisting of the 4th, 44th, 48th, 47th, and 15th Alabama, both of Hood's division.
This left the 47th and 15th Alabama to carry out the flanking movement abone, which they did, passing up the southern side of Round Top, and halting some ten minutes on the crest for rest.
But just here these two Alabama regiments met the 20th Maine, which was the left regiment of Vineent's brigade, and also the left of the whole Army of the Potomae, and, to conform to the erest of the hill, was bent baek at about right angles with the line of the rest of the brigade.
