	Little Sister (song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		"Little Sister" is the first single released by the rock group Queens of the Stone Age on their fourth album Lullabies to Paralyze.
		The song had been in the works for quite a while and a b-side was recorded with Dave Grohl in 2002 for the album Songs for the Deaf, but was scrapped as Josh was unhappy with it; This b-side was later distributed on a bootleg recording compilation around early 2003.
		According to Josh Homme, the song was inspired by the "sort of sexual twist" of Doc Pomus's song, which is probably best known as recorded by Elvis Presley.

		Discovering the song on volume three of the excellent freakbeat/UK psych anthology A Perfumed Garden (Past and Present Records 2002) confirmed that for me, but in doing further research just now for this write-up, I was surprised to learn that the Cedars came by their Middle Eastern rhythms naturally: the group was actually from Lebanon.
		This song was also on the Exploiting the Plastic Inevitable bootleg the folks who did the Pre-Kraut Pandemonium records did.
		Little Hits does not intend to deprive artists and labels of revenue; it is instead hoped that the music presented on this site will contribute to interest that will eventually lead to legitimate re-issue of the works of the artists represented, or wider recognition of already available releases.

		The song's only release came on the b-side of a fairly rare Merge 7" that predates the 6ths' first album by over a year.
		The main oddity of this song is the fact that it's one of the rare occasions when Stephin Merritt drops his normal deadpan vocal style: on the tart, bitchy first verse in particular, he sounds genuinely pissed off at someone for perhaps the only time in his career.
		It sounds like a sister song (well, I guess it could be a brother song) to "Famous" from Get Lost.

	Musical projects
		The band changed it's name to Death's Little Sister (with Neil Gaiman's blessings) and embarked upon its very brief and turbulent existence.
		The untitled disc featured a new version of "House of the Rising Song" (which Caitlín has sworn she'll never sing again) and a song from Silk, "Iron Lung." Though the trio called themselves Crimson Stain Mystery, it was strictly a studio project for Gauntlet, and there were never plans to play a live show.
		When Crimson Stain Mystery recorded the song in '99, about four years after the lyrics were written, I reworked them a little bit, but the version that went onto the Gauntlet CD wasn't that different from the original.
