Littleborough began as a scattering of weaving hamlets within the Parish of Hundersfield, a large area stretching from Rochdale to Todmorden.
Littleborough centre consists of Church Street, which runs towards Rochdale from the centre of the town, and Hare Hill Road, which is perpendicular to Church Street.
Littleborough High School, which is also a Infant school, is the largest school in Littleborough, and is also the home of the Littleborough Juniours, and the Littleborough football fields, on which Pub League teams play every Sunday.

It is believed that the club played at White Scack and Heights Houses prior to its move to the present ground in 1870.
The club made a decision in the year 2000 despite having been turned down twice for lottery funding to demolish the old wooden pavilion, which was originally built in 1911.
A great fund raising effort, club support and generous donations and loans from the late Allen Marshall and the club president Gordon Rigg, resulted in sufficient funds being raised to demolish the old pavilion in April 2000.

We stayed at the Littleborough Hotel in Bicester, scene of the famous rendition of climb, climb sunshine mountain, Barry Crighton called to the table set off like Jonathon Edwards, leapt clean over the table and landed on poor old Bob Amos!
BJ Martin, as senior member of this Tour took us all on to one side before we departed Pool, reminding us of the fact that we were representing the Club and our behaviour must be impeccable at all times.

Schofield has been playing league cricket with Littleborough since the tribunal ruling and is hopeful of getting some cricket with Cheshire if another county contract is not offered.
Lancashire chief executive Jim Cumbes was also disappointed with the size of the compensation and stressed the original tribunal had not found against the club, just against the procedure they used for releasing Schofield.
Cumbes admitted he was disappointed by the role of the Professional Cricketers' Association, who have advised Schofield on the matter, and claimed relations had deteriorated during this case.

Lancashire had claimed if they had followed proper employment law procedure of verbal warnings and a final warning they would have affected Schofield's confidence and his ability to perform to the highest standards.
The decision not to renew his contract was taken by the county's cricket committee on 31 August and ratified by the general committee on 6 September.

The large number of schoolchildren travelling out of Littleborough each weekday (229 left the primary schools of Littleborough in July 2002), added to the number of people who travel out of town to work, contributes to congestion on the A58 to Rochdale and on the B6225 to Milnrow at peak times.
The absence of a High School in Littleborough means that the town lacks a variety of school-based recreational facilities for teenagers.
Attempts have been made to provide Youth Club facilities and currently a variety of activities are being introduced on a ‘taster’ basis to find out which particularly appeal to the young people.
