The Black Crowes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 2000 the Crowes went on tour and recorded a live album with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.
Later in the year, the Black Crowes reunited with original drummer Steve Gorman and joined up with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for a summer tour.
The Crowes released their first studio album Shake Your Money Maker, in 1990.

Similarly this live album by the Black Crowes is absolutely fantastic.
I wasn't that familiar with Led Zep's album Physical Graffitti, but when you hear those songs played live by the Black Crowes and Jimmy Page you suddenly understand what all the hype is about.
The Led Zeppelin covers, which account for 14 of the 20 tracks on Live At The Greek, stay close to the original arrangements--you can sing along most of the way based on your knowledge of the Zep studio albums.

 Black Crowes _ Lions
This was an attempt to entice tape traders and CD burning fans to purchase the new album in order to listen to the BC live, where they do it the best.
Concerts exhibiting the songs of the new album usually signals a weak album, yet the faithful hoped for another “By Your Side.” Second, the brothers Robinson decided to switch record labels to V2, an indie from the major label support of Sony/Columbia.
Three factors led to the promotional stampede that was “Lions,” and thankfully now that it is over, the lackluster album will recede into obscurity with Amorica and “3 Snakes.” It appears that Chris and Rich Robinson didn’t learn anything from Jimmy Page while on tour except how to write crappy hooks and jarringly bad lyrics.

The last Black Crowes album to be certified was a live album, which went gold in four months, and their two previous albums have yet to receive any certifications.
This means that her new album is outselling her last album by far, since The Velvet Rope took five months to go double platinum.
Her last album, On the Six, went double platinum in a little less than six months due to a hot single.

Her name is Brown or White or Black, you know her very well, You hear her cries of mercy as the winners toll the bell.
She hears them talk of new ways to protect the home she lives in, Then she wonders what it's all about when they break down the door.
And her voice is sore from shouting, cheering winners who are losing, And she worries if their days are few and soon they'll have to go.

While some people abhor the live album, I've always thought them to be much more alive when done right than anything recorded in the studio (of course, I also love bands who were just better live bands period, PJ and the Black Crowes among them).
Live From Mars is an exceptional double live album that is the perfect introduction to Harper for the interested music listener.
While I have listened to a couple of Ben Harper's studio albums, I find him to be much more engaging as a live act.

I highly recommend this album for all you Zeppelin fans who've been longing to hear their favorite songs recorded live and with digital quality that can't be reproduced from the original released material.
This is the best live album released this decade,so far, and is certainly one of my most played albums ever.
In the end, 'Live At The Greek' is just a recording of a bunch of Southern boys having a good time jamming with one of their heroes, and doing a fine job in the process.

One good aspect of this live collection is that it covers all periods of the band's career equally, and the inclusion of several ballads give a good representation of an actual Crowes show.

Live at the Greek showcases Page and the Crowes in fine form, but the release itself is not without its flaws.
This 2-CD live compilation was culled from the last two shows of that week, Oct. 18-19, 1999, at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.
Be warned though that if you choose to customize your CDs, and/or you live outside of the United States, it may take you considerably longer to receive your discs from Musicmaker than it would if you just get the entire set as is.

Standout tracks on the disc include the up-tempo album opener "Treat Yo Mama," crowd pleaser and live show favorite "Betterman," and the beautifully written love song "Peaches & Cream," which was inspired by John's daughter, Banjo.
The album features the infectious lead off track "Zebra" which is already a staple at AAA and alternative radio.

Similar to how I can’t listen to a Black Crowes album all the way through, these vocals tire me. However, if you’ve acquired a taste for this kind of singing, there’s plenty of gems on this album to be worth your while.
Ever since listening to Eric Clapton’s live album as a kid, I never thought I’d hear someone with quite the same amount of talent on the acoustic guitar.

Former Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson is all set to make his UK live debut in December with a series of shows in support of his first solo album Paper.
The resulting reunion saw a return to Steve's earlier love of soul and blues on the 1991 album 'Takin' It To The Streets'.
Chris was already playing lead guitar with a local band, and due to some 'inquisitive experimentation' on Steve's part, the younger sibling soon found himself hooking on with his brother as their singer.

Chris Robinson and New Earth Mud concert review, the Rave, Milwaukee, WI Feb. 12, 2003
With a brand new debut solo album fresh on the record racks and file-sharing networks, the Black Crowes' frontman Chris Robinson slipped into town for a riveting solo performance that showcased the many facets of his own musical tastes.
While the uncertainty of The Black Crowes' future as a band is up in the air, nobody was questioning, because, quite frankly, after just one night with these guys, it didn't seem to matter.
As Chris Robinson proudly wore his influences on his sleeve, he also proved, that as a solo artist with some fine new material and a genuinely great live band, that this is one Crowe that may never look back after taking flight from the flock.

Recorded December 7, 1993, at the Whisky-a-Go-Go in Hollywood, CA, this is a David Crosby live album and a good representation of his solo concert performances.
In fact, it's a little better than usual since Crosby is joined by singers Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes and his old partner Graham Nash.
The album's chief virtue is in the expression of Crosby's personality, but there isn't enough of that.

For years now, Buckcherry has had to live with the label of "the heavy Black Crowes".
Much like their last album Timebomb, Buckcherry are back with more stories of debauchery.
Odds are that is what led him back to using the "Buckcherry" moniker this time around.

 Third Day - BIO / ChristianMusic.com
Opting to record in Atlanta at Southern Tracks studios (Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Black Crowes), Third Day set up their amplifiers in a circle and recorded all of the instruments simultaneously in an effort to capture their dynamic live chemistry.
On their third album, "Time", Third Day intentionally gravitated toward a rootsier, looser, more "southern" feel for Time than was evidenced on their previous projects.
Third Day's tendency to dwell on matters of faith and relationship with God has served to create an ever-present, underlying sense of worship in their songs that audiences have been quick to connect with.
