Splendid E-zine reviews: The Bouncing Souls
New Jersey's longstanding -- but relatively unknown -- Bouncing Souls decide to take a shot at longevity with this live recording from the Continental in NYC.
It's chancy enough to release a live album for mass fan consumption, but it's almost preposterous to release one when your name is scarcely a household word.
As an added bonus, the Souls also have some pretty swanky tunes that carefully balance between good ol' hardcore punk and melodious pop punk- a happy marriage of both mediums.

PunkROCKS.net CD Review - Bouncing Souls - How I Spent My Summer Vacation
The Bouncing Souls come across as a band that's perpetually drunk, but this album is a lot less sloppy and top to bottom much more complete than their other albums.
The Bouncing Souls have been somewhat of an enigma in my little "punk rock world." I've seen them live, but didn't really like it, and I have a number of their cds, but never listen to them.
I'll always hold a place in my heart for humorous songs like "Shark Attack," but if there's one Bouncing Souls record to go out and get, this is the one.

Bouncing Souls: Hopeless Romantic: Pitchfork Review
Hopeless Romantic abounds in the type of engaging tomfoolery that established the Bouncing Souls' unparalleled charm both live and on record.
Their musical moves seemed to be dictated more by what others defined as "being punk" rather than whatever creative vibrations were bouncing in their souls.
A more appropriate title for this album might be How the Souls Got Their Groove Back.

Bouncing Souls: Tie One On!: Pitchfork Review
Ironically, the Bouncing Souls begin their live opus with nary a word and a rendition of "Say Anything" that lags miles behind its studio predecessor.
It has all the hallmarks of a classic Bouncing Souls song-- the sing- along vocals, the upbeat rhythm, the bittersweet delivery.
But missing are classics from The Good, the Bad, and the Argyle, the album that established the Bouncing Souls as masterly purveyors of innovative and entertaining punk rock.

Whatever, we got to hear all the gems off the album, including the anthemic "Give 'em the Boot," the undeniably catchy "Radio, Radio," and my personal favorite "Boys Will Be Boys," with Roger's tough snarling shouts of "boots and braces" that really got the pit going wild.

Just thinking about the line-up makes me giddy, three of NYC's best - Bouncing Souls (so what if they were transplanted from New Jersey?), the Casualties, and Roger Miret and the Disasters.
