 Dance by Fleetwood Mac CD
Inasmuch as Fleetwood Mac's classic 1970s albums drew much of their charm from their quirky arrangements and fastidious studio craft, it's a bit odd that the band would choose to reunite with a live, largely unplugged album.
But somehow, the first album by the Fleetwood-McVie-McVie-Buckingham-Nicks lineup since 1987's TANGO IN THE NIGHT manages to recapture a good deal of the old feel, which had a lot to do with three very different singer-songwriters agreeing to live together under the umbrella of a single flexible rhythm section.

Mirage album review - Esquire Dec 1982
After a series of group and solo efforts that smacked of overloads of either eccentricity (Tusk, drummer Mick Fleetwood’s The Visitor, guitarist Lindsey Buckingham’s Law and Order), self-indulgence (Fleetwood Mac Live), or both (Stevie Nicks’s Bella Donna), it’s very comforting to hear this band back on the whole-is-greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts solid ground of Mirage.
Christine McVie’s "Hold Me" leads the way, and rightly so, since it almost clinically demonstrates the deceptively simple craft that goes into Fleetwood Mac’s songs ¾ classically based piano figures, loopy guitar lines, interlocking bass and drum patterns, and that exquisite harmony singing.

Fleetwood Mac - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pressure was put on Fleetwood Mac to release a successful follow-on album, which, when combined with its new-found wealth, led to creative and personal tensions, fuelled by large amounts of drug and alcohol consumption, especially cocaine.
As Fleetwood had promised, even when events reached their nadir, there would always be John McVie and Mick Fleetwood, as long as both shall live.
One of his Fleetwood Mac songs, the B-side "Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked in Tonight," was jokingly credited to "Earl Vince and the Valiants" and later covered by 70's Scottish punk band the Rezillos.

The group began spreading its wings in the studio with their next album, "Feelings", recorded late in 1967, which emphasized the band's material over Sloan and Barri's.
This was intended as their own statement of who they were, but it lacked the commercial appeal of anything on Let's Live for Today, sold poorly, and never yielded any hit singles.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac (lyrics & reviews)
Without a doubt "Tusk" is one of the strangest, but best songs I have ever heard, with a marching band, spoken lyrics, and background voice (some of you might remember the live version on "The Dance", keep in mind that the original is not too similar).
Both albums are eccentric and fragmented, and on each, the band members (at least the ones that write songs) come through as very distinct, individual personalities, much more so than on previous albums.
While Tusk may not be the perfect song cycle that Rumours was, it's still a compelling listen that has the power to surprise with its creativity and weirdness even twenty-five years later.

The Reprise album comes at an interesting juncture in Nicks' career, as her last outing, 1994's Street Angel, was her first solo album to sell less than platinum, and yet she enjoyed rousing success late in the decade with the reunited Fleetwood Mac's barnstorming tour and subsequent live album, The Dance.

 Say You Will Reviews
The album is a randomly sequenced display of Fleetwood Mac's best instincts: Buckingham's bittersweet tunes about playing for keeps; Nicks' tough, swirly songs about fragile and wicked women; and the experiments the group can't stop indulging in (near-classical and metal-inclined guitar, teen pop, an incoherent number about the media).
He returned to the fold for 1997's greatest-hits live album, "The Dance," and hugely successful reunion tour, which came lurching to a halt when Christine McVie decided life on the road was no longer for her.
The album clearly would've benefited from the removal of a few tracks, Nicks' lyrics are occasionally heavy-handed ("She was a silver girl/Trapped in a high-tech world") and capable backing vocalist Sheryl Crow can't make up for the absence of the honey-voiced Christine McVie.
