		Sutter County was named after General John Sutter, a native of Switzerland, who obtained a large land grant from the Mexican government, and called his first settlement New Helvetia (now the City of Sacramento).
		In the county the population is spread out with 29.00% under the age of 18, 9.20% from 18 to 24, 28.20% from 25 to 44, 21.30% from 45 to 64, and 12.40% who are 65 years of age or older.
