The Strokes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Live in London LP was planned for release in October, 2004, but was abandoned, reportedly due to recording quality problems.
The Strokes are an American rock and roll band who formed in New York City and gained initial fame for their live shows.
The Strokes released their debut album Is This It in the U.S. in October 2001 on RCA, after delays due to the album's graphic European cover (a photo of a woman's crotch, changed to a photo of particle collisions in America), and the removal of the song "New York City Cops".

The Strokes - live in London
Tonight it’s time for the fans to decide if The Strokes still deserve to be at the top of the pop league as a legion of fashionable young Strokers and Strokettes mingle amongst the sell-out 8,000 strong crowd at London’s Alexandra Palace.
When New York quintet released their second album ‘Room On Fire’, the follow-up to the hugely successful ‘Is This It?’, in October, it seemed like the whole world was waiting with baited breath for the miracle contained within the magical CD case.
With such short songs, the hour long set flies by with the band casually dropping in their best tunes with a ‘don’t give a fuck attitude’ which is exactly why they are where they are.

The Zutons + Eastern Lane - live in London
The moody bluesy stomp of ‘Creepin An A Crawlin’ has the rollicking melodies of 60’s band The Lively Ones and sees The Zutons barefooted saxophonist Abi Harding shuffle from one foot to the other whilst tooting a mean sax solo at the same time.
There’s been a lot of talk about the changing face of the UK music industry lately and about the long overdue resurgence of ‘buzz bands’ that are ready and willing to take on the stagnant, stylised trough of their chart breaking peers.
The best is yet to come though, when the band return for a double encore beginning with the fantastic ‘Zuton Karmuun’, an instrumental ska-funk frenzy of drums, guitar and sax.

Rufus Wainwright live in London Music Entertainment Gay.com UK
But it's the rockier songs that he - and his band - excel at live, building a euphoric wall of sound that could stand firm against any of the big name stadium rockers, and acts as a perfect accompaniment for the many lyrical dramatics.
Not to say that the songs all live in an earnest world of broken hearts and faltering bonds.
Many exist in the newly clean and sober Rufus living in a post-Rehab world, something he admits he struggles with.

Tonight at ULU Delays are playing the last date of a UK tour supporting Easyworld and give their all to the hard-to-please London crowd.
Rough Trade — home of The Libertines, The Strokes, and one of their most recent signings Southampton four-piece Delays (without theThe’) who, in true Rough Trade style, sound nothing like their label mates.
From the swirling sixties of The Hollies and Bob Dylan, through to nineties hypnotic jangle heads Ride and The La’s, Delays influences are easy to spot but who cares when they’re churning out such achingly good songs at this early stage in the game.

It is so far from being natural for a man and woman to live in a state of marriage, that we find all the motives which they have for remaining in that connection, and the restraints which civilised society imposes to prevent separation, are hardly sufficient to keep them together.

Moving beyond the metaphor of the artwork as a living organism into a complex embodiment of the trope, transgenic art opens a nonteleonomic domain for the life sciences.
He takes the "intentional stance", i.e., the strategy of interpreting the behavior of something (a living or non living thing) as if it were a rational agent whose actions are determined by its beliefs and desires.

SUEDE - 'Suede Live' - London ICA - September 23 2003 - The Final Word
As Richard takes the gentle guitar parts and tweaks out ghostly chords, Alex then adds to it with understated, tender piano that makes me realise that this is the hidden gem, slyly waiting to be discovered somewhere in the middle of the second side of the record.
The fabulous, dead for a decade songs such as “She’s Not Dead”, “The Next Life”, and the never-performed-ever live premiere of the tender, heartbroken, suburban “Breakdown”.
Richard, freed from having to play ten guitar parts at once, can just concentrate on showing us just how good a guitarist he is. But Richard’s not a guitarist per se; he’s a musician who plays guitar.

Amid the boom and crush of backstage chaos, The Strokes ' bassist Nikolai Fraiture is waiting quietly at the bar.
For the question that springs to mind most often during the last of The Strokes ' British dates is not 'Are they all my favourite song?' nor 'Are they all my favourite Stroke?' but 'Christ, what must it be like to be in this band right now?'.
There's a sense of event in the air that leaves you wondering where the loaves and fishes are, that all-too-rare static of expectation.

Guardian Unlimited Arts reviews The Strokes
The Strokes have just one single under their skinny belts, and this appearance - third rung on an NME Brats show ladder - is their first London gig, but they are already commanding a lot of attention.
From the joyful toe-bopping of guitarist and Clem Burke lookalike Nick Valensis to the tasteful Television and Stooges overtones, the Strokes are a revelation.
Julian Casablancas, dressed in immaculate new-wave chic with his white shirt, dark tie and red Converse trainers, is a classy geek, the microphone held tightly to his lips as his deep, Jim Morrison-like voice resonates, one arm nonchalantly resting on the mike stand propping him up.

Ever since the big bang that happened sometime last year…when the Strokes hit the planet and sent girls and boys to their knees and Marshall stacks, you’d think that the hand of God had touched down in the Big Apple to choose the second coming of rock.
They write good solid songs, Julian can sing (and let it be said his voice is as good live as on record), they can play their instruments…just not fast enough sometimes.
