The Liverpool Olympic Festival was held again in 1863, 1864, 1865 and 1867 and it forms a significant part of the early history of organised athletics in Victorian England.
The Mayor of Liverpool agreed to be chairman of the gymnasium board of directors, and Hulley was appointed managing director, or gymnasiarch, with the renowned boxing Champion of England, Jem Mace, as one of the team of instructors.

The two main newspapers are Williamson's Liverpool Advertiser starting in 1756, later Billinge's Liverpool Advertiser and then the Liverpool Times (lasted until 1856) and the Liverpool General Advertiser which started in 1765 and lasted until 1875.
Liverpool Mercury started 1811 to 1904 (merged with the Daily Post above) Indexed half yearly to 1824/5.
Liverpool Record Office only has a microfilm set from June 1939 to 1974 when it ceased publication and bound copies from 1914 to 1974 (incomplete)

The managers must have spent a considerable amount of money regularly advertising their programs, quite often with a detailed description of the diorama consisting of 200 or more words (49) They often also had a 'last-chance-to-see' type of advertisement placed for several months before the actual end of season.
Egerton Smith (56) founded the Liverpool Mercury in 1811 as well as in the 1820s his pleasant periodical called The Kaleidoscope, where enthusiastic reports about the Diorama also appeared.
On 5 October 1832 he withdrew his interest in the Liverpool Mercury, so as to concentrate on lecturing throughout the midlands on ‘Smith and Dolier's system of education’ (58) and to sell their recently patented 'writing tablet and delible ink' (59) and other aids for education.

Early in 1829 the directors of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway faced a dilemma.
Henry Booth, treasurer of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, and George Stephenson, the line's engineer, entered for the Rainhill Trials a locomotive that was to be built at the works of Robert Stephenson and Co. in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The Liverpool and Manchester Railway bought Sans Pareil for £350 and it ran as a locomotive until 1844.
