Dead and live loads - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dead and Live loads are terms used in mechanical and structural engineering, especially where analysis of real world objects are required.
Live loads, sometimes referred to as dynamic loads include all the forces that are variable within the object's normal operation cycle.
Since the maximum stress is very rarely at the same place in a structure for dead and live it may well be the case that the overall increase is a fraction of the addition of the two maximum stresses and in a completely different position two either of the two original maximums.

By the Eighties, the Dead were a solid touring organization playing excellent music that spanned their entire career, restoring that sense of community, and looking and acting very much the same as they always had, which was somewhat of a relief to the audience that had followed them for so long.
The "hippies" lived on in the form of Deadheads, and one of the primary legacies of the Dead is its influence on a new generation of jam bands in the late 1990s and to this day, which have adopted improvisation as the basis for their music.

In March of 1967 the Dead issued their self-titled Warner Bros. debut LP, a disappointing effort which failed to recapture the cosmic sprawl of their live appearances; after performing at the Monterey Pop Festival, the group expanded to a six-piece with the addition of second drummer Mickey Hart.
Despite increasing radio airplay and respectable album sales, the Dead remained first and foremost a live act, and as their popularity grew across the world they expanded their touring schedule, taking to the road for much of each year.
In the autumn of 1992 Garcia was again hospitalized with diabetes and an enlarged heart, forcing the Dead to postpone their upcoming tour until the year's end; he eventually returned to action looking more fit than he had in years.

Multi-Strata Models with Live and Dead Encounters
The multi-strata model with live and dead encounters is a generalization of the multi-strata model that allows inclusion of recoveries of marks from dead animals.
In addition to the usual assumptions of the multi-state model, this model assumes that apart from group and time effects, the reporting rate of marks from dead animals depends only on the stratum that the animal was in at the immediately preceeding live-capture occasion.
In some applications, it may be reasonable to also assume that the state of the animal at the time of the dead recovery can be used to determine the state of the animal at the previous live-recapture occasion.

The Dead certainly have the talent, and can deliver moments of raw power, but their incessant need to jam, solo and otherwise experiment — with results that vary greatly — removes the intensity hiding in the music.
I have no doubt that the Grateful Dead were one of the premier live acts for those who enjoy jam music and the journey from song to song.
The first, the studio single for "Dark Star," is light-years ahead of the live version that appears elsewhere on the album.

After all, it not only captures the band in all its late ’60s glory, but it also is the album that launched the jam band genre and gave the Grateful Dead’s career a well-deserved push, while also passing time as the group prepared to shift direction.
Rather than bursting out of the starting gate, the band gently eased into the song from some other space in time — actually, it was Mountains of the Moon that preceded the tune at the concert from which this rendition was taken — allowing the instruments to gradually coalesce into the now familiar musical theme.
Indeed, Live/Dead fully captured the band’s live sound with startling precision, opening the doors of perception to the uninitiated and welcoming them inside with open arms.
