Livingston County is a county located in the state of Michigan.
In the county the population is spread out with 28.80% under the age of 18, 6.60% from 18 to 24, 31.70% from 25 to 44, 24.60% from 45 to 64, and 8.30% who are 65 years of age or older.
Livingston County has been the fastest growing county in the state for the past decade and also through the 1970s.

Michigan is part of the "original" northwest territories acquired from the British as part of the settlement after the War of 1812.
The land in this area, prior to the "easterners" migration, was inhabited by Native Americans; the Saginaw Chippewa and the Pottawattamies primarily, with a scattering of Sauks, Onottoways and Ottawas.
At some point in time, as more and more settlers moved to the region, the government conducted another survey of Michigan (attained statehood in 1837) resulting in the conclusion that the area was a fertile farming treasure plus lumbering to be a viable industry.

The highest (though not the most abrupt) elevation of land in Livingston is found commencing on the eastern border, in the township of Hartland, and extending thence southwestwardly across the county through the township of Marion.
This old chief, although living outside the county of Livingston, is properly mentioned here, for his village was not many miles from the western border, and he frequently passed through here with his band, and was well known to many of the settlers.
In various, places, and in several different directions, the county was traversed by Indian trails, which, by being traveled for years by them and their ponies, had become beaten paths, worn into the soft soil in some places to the depth of more than a foot.

On 8 April 1864, the Livingston County Probate Court appointed Frederick S. Griswold, age 56, guardian of the minor children of George R. Griswold; after Frederick's death, the court on 12 Mar. 1865 appointed Martin V. Russell as guardian.
George R. Griswold is referred to as being "of Hartland" both (1) in the Probate Court's appointment of Frederick S. Griswold as guardian and (2) in the record of the 31 Oct. 1851 marriage of George Griswold, age 24, of Hartland, to Nancy Griswold, age 18, of Osceola.

At their March meeting, the Board of Directors of the Livingston County United Way voted to approve the hiring of Nancy Rosso of Brighton Township to be the new leader of the organization.
Rosso’s past professional experience includes the Executive Director position for Livingston County Catholic Social Services and working for a number of years as a state budget fiscal analyst for the State Fiscal Agency.
They have a son, Ryan, who is a junior at Michigan State University and a daughter, Bridget, who is a senior at Hartland High School.
