From there, Mickelson posted a pair of 5-under 67s at Poppy Hills and Pebble Beach Golf Links to reach a 54-hole tournament record 20- under 196.
Mickelson's seven-stroke lead was the largest 54-hole lead in the history of the Pebble Beach tournament, breaking the old record of five strokes shared by Lloyd Mangrum (1948), Cary Middlecoff (1956), Lon Hinkle (1979) and Fuzzy Zoeller (1986).
While Sunday proved a bit dicey as Mickelson closed with a 73 amid windy and misty conditions -- his lead shrinking to as few as four strokes -- and finished at 19-under 269, the final round did little to overshadow a week in which Mickelson was in complete control.
