All that said, Lloyd is going to be in for a night of nail-biting on the 23rd, but his chances of going back to Ottawa as the MP for Brant are still very much alive.
Lloyd St. Amand didn't set the world on fire in the last election campaign and was lucky the Conservatives in the area were all in Haldimand-Norfolk trying to help Diane Finlay knock off Bob Speller.
As for the riding, well we know it was NDP for 22 years and that Lloyd St. Amand is the second to last Liberal backbencher in party whose fortunes are sinking quick.

Lloyd St. Amand (born November 10, 1952) is a Canadian politician and the current Member of Parliament for the riding of Brant.
Amand is a past president of the Brant Federal Liberal Association and was an active supporter of Jane Stewart's successful election campaigns in 1993, 1997, and 2000.
After Stewart announced she would not run for re-election in the 2004 federal election, St. Amand ran to become the Liberal candidate for her riding and succeeded.

St. Amand can be my philosophy professor but as a politician his speaking style is uninspiring.
Amand did not proclaim himself to be a Chrietien Liberal.
Either way, Lloyd St. Armand is not the strongest candidate that the Liberals could have fielded and if the federal Liberal campaign begins to run into trouble, riding like Brant and marginal candidates like St. Armand will feel the ground shifting under them very quickly.
