Llydaw also refers to a lake in the Snowdonia range.
In that story, that the name Llydaw means "half-tongue", for when Conan Meriadoc and his men settled the area, they cut out the tongues of the women so that the British language would replace the local Gaulish language.

from Deganwy; this rises in Llyn Conwy, in the southeast, divides Carnarvon from Denbigh (running nearly due north) for some 30 m., and falls into the sea at Deganwy.
The Seint (wrongly spelled Seiont) is a small stream rising in Snowdon and falling into the sea at Carnarvon, to which it gave its old name Segontium (Kaer Seint yn Arvon in the Mabinogion).
Next to the Ordovician, the Cambrian rocks are the most important; they are found in three separate areas; the largest is in the north-west, and extends from Bangor to Bethesda, through Llyn Cwellyn and Llanwada to the coast near Clynnogfawr.

From Llyn Glaslyn at 2,200 feet, the waters flow over two great steps and eventually pass through a gorge cut in the rock barrier to tumble down precipitous slopes into Llyn Llydaw at 1,400 feet.
Llyn Llydaw fills a deep rock basin over a mile long, although on the slide it is much foreshort-ened.
The tumbled mass of glacier-broken stone and rock powder marks the end of the Llydaw glacier as it melted.

Llyn Llydaw lake is in the Snowdonia National Park, in North Wales.
Some legends also say Llyn Llydaw, is the one over which the wounded Arthur sailed to the Isle of Avalon.
Whether Sir Bedivere could have made has way to such a remote lake is to be considered, but maybe that was the charm of the place for the Lady of Lake if she in fact lived in Llyn Llydaw.

 Fishing Wales: Glaslyn River
The source of the Glaslyn is Llyn Glaslyn, which lies directly under the western slopes of Snowdon.
It then flows through Llyn Llydaw down the Gwynant Valley to one of the most beautiful lakes in Wales, Llyn Gwynant, from there it passes through Llyn Dinas, Beddgelert and Aberglaslyn Pass before reaching the sea at Porthmadog.
The association holds rights for Dinas Lake and Llyn Gwynant but boat fishing is restricted to local members.

As we walked past Llyn Teyrn and towards the reservoir that is Llyn Llydaw the sky was becoming very blue, apart from one piece that is, the section on the summit of Snowdon.
After passing the mill we made a steep ascent to the shores of Llyn Glaslyn.
The views down to Llanberis and Llyn Peris were stunning too.

The mountain’s connections with King Arthur do not stop there; into one of its lakes, Llyn Llydaw, a mortally wounded Arthur threw his sword, the mighty Excalibur (Caledfwlch in Welsh).
Initially built to service the Britannia Copper Mines above Llyn Glaslyn during the last century, the track continues to serve after the mine was abandoned in 1917.

The track is called Pyg, standing for Pen y Gwryd, which is the name of the hotel at the bottom of the pass.
There are good views from the path across to Lliwedd on your left, and up to Crib Goch and Crib y Ddysgl on your right, as well as Snowdon in front of you.

Of course every generation, including Hollywood today, has built a little bit more of the Arthur legend and Tennyson probably had Llyn Llydaw in mind in Idylls of the King when he had Bedivere "steeping down/By zigzag paths and juts of pointed rock/Come on the shining levels of the lake".
In 1856 when the waters were lowered to help build the track to the mines a primitive canoe was found and many echoed Malory's words of the three "fayr ladyes" who bore away the body of the mortally wounded king across the lake.
The Welsh name from Snowdon is Yr Wyddfa which means burial place and a legend suggests that the cairn at the top marks the grave of Rhita Fawr a particularly fierce giant who had a cloak made out of the beards of all the kings he'd killed.
