Most commoners have the mistaken belief that all dragons are evil and will know little more than the names of a few of the most famous (or infamous) dragons.
This ancient silver is the oldest of the dragons of Llyonesse, and is occasionally called upon to resolve disputes between the others.
As one of the oldest living creatures in Llyonesse, she knows much about the history of the land.

In Llyonesse, magic is closely tied to the spirits of living beings.
Creating a non-living magical object is an arduous, specialized task that requires dedication, esoteric knowledge, exacting craftsmanship, strenuous rituals, and years of training.
He must advance to 12th level as a wizard (or otherwise raise his caster level to 12th) before advancing to 6th level as an artificer and gaining the Forge Ring ability.

Even through those long years of his madness, when I searched the hidden ways of wide Celyddon alone, I desired nothing but to be once more what I had been: servant and companion to Myrddin Emrys, Chief Bard in the Island of the Mighty.
I, Pelleas, prince of Llyonesse, will tell all as I have seen it And I have seen much indeed.
What if it will not work?" "It will, as you say, ‘work.’ Just do as I have told you." Arthur nods grimly and steps up to the great keystone where the sword stands, its naked blade stuck fast in the heart of the stone.

In gratitude, Arthur raises a shrine to the Grail, but soon the Grail is stolen by Llenlleawg (Lancelot), who also abducts Queen Gwenhwyvar.
When Arthur and his knights pursue, they are led to the magical, bleak land of Llyonesse, into the sorceress Morgian's power, fighting for their sanity and the Grail.
This is a straightforward story; there's less intrigue than I expected.

Ceylo sat next to her suitor in the damp grass beyond the catacombs temple and stared out past the tall sentinel stones that surrounded the site.
The mist was thick in the air this evening, rolling in like a cold blanket from the deeper recesses of Llyonesse.
Ceylo followed behind the Knight, marveling all the while at the ever growing power of the Love she felt for this man in her heart.

Our goal from the start was to make something contiguous with the game's already highly suggested feudal theme.
In a world where the only human kingdom is named Mercia, and whose history contains references to such things as "Llyonesse" and "Dalriada", a state named something completely unconnected would be jarring and a little silly.
If the government and feudal structure of Wessex seems complicated to you, you can be forgiven.

A bit of a tough read at first, with lots of characters and about a million layers of political and military intrigue to keep track of, but very rewarding.
Jack Vance - The Llyonesse books are fantasy classics.
I don't see them mentioned much anymore, which is a real shame.

Jaykob held him at arms length, shrugging off the wild desperate stabbing blows against his arm and pinned the Devilkeen against the wall of the inner tower.
“Fari fatus pridem llyonesse.” Jaykob drew back his saber as he softly spoke those words, the blade now taking on an angry red glow.
The saber thrust forward with blinding fast speed, piercing the assassin’s chest.

John Rhys' studies on the mythology and folklore of the Celtic lands: for example, the long-standing belief of the ancient Britons in a positive connection between Llyonesse and Atlantis.
Rhys was the first person I ever encountered who suggested that Llyonesse (an old name for the extreme southwest portion of Britain) and Atlantis shared a connection, and that many of the legends involving Fair Folk derived from this connection.
Enchanted with this notion, I wove it into the Pendragon Cycle in order to explain some of the puzzles and questions surrounding the myths of Taliesin, Merlin, and Arthur.

This mark survives to this very day as a thick, calloused scar: I doubt very seriously that it would fade with time.
I was taken, through Sauvage and Albion, to llyonesse and shipped by boat over the southern seas to a desert land, where I served in bonds some six years to a Saracen family.
Ultimately, I escaped my captors and found my way back to Albion.
