 Lo Mein: a novel by Robert Eringer / +1 843 881-6080
"Lo Mein is an amusing mystery, filled with suspense." When asked what inspired him to write Lo Mein, Robert Eringer responded, "A variety of disparate influences, a balance of caffeine and alcohol, a dash of lunacy." It's a response that reveals this author's tongue-in-cheek, laugh-about-it attitude, an attitude that shines through in his latest novel.
In Lo Mein, a wickedly funny new novel by Robert Eringer, this talented artist longs to be recognized by his peers but is unable to sell a single painting.
By Anne Lewis, the [Notre Dame University] Observer In his most recent book, Lo Mein, Robert Eringer's imaginative, zany and provocative flare for the distortion of reality comes through magnificently, striking the reader at odd, but somehow wonderful, intervals.

 HawaiiStories: Chow mein mainland style
There is nothing more disappointing than checking with the restaurant staff to make sure that chow mein is the right kind and having lo mein put in front of you.
I finally gave up and rarely eat Chinese at all ('cause chow mein is my favorite dish) and just buy the noodles when I'm in Hawaii and make my own.
Luckily, even here smack dab in the middle of Tay-haas, chow mein is indeed a noodle dish -- thick, nasty, greasy noodles, but noodles nonetheless.

In the East and Midwest, what is chow mein is called "lo mein" (white noodles) to distinguish the dish from the "crispy noodle" chow mein.
Traditionally, chow mein is an authentic Chinese dish (unlike "chop suey") that is made from leftover cold noodles (as fried rice is made from leftover rice).
In the West (and in China) chow mein is made with soft noodles, usually leftover or cold.

Tom Goes to the Mayor - Wikiquote
Clue #4: "We use these noodles for lo mein, but not for spaghetti."
Tom, what you're probably smelling is the cat food, I've been coming by every night to feed you, and since you're unconscious, I would take a dollop of the wet cat food and stick it in your mouth, and then move your jaw up and down, in a chewing motion (Tom gets nauseous).

 History of Ramen Noodles
Ramen noodles originated in China, where all noodles seem to have come from, and are called "Lo-Mein" in Chinese, which means boiled noodles.
This Chinese-style noodle became such a great favorite in Sapporo, the capital of Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido, that it is now considered to be their regional dish.
The process for turning the traditional Ramen noodles into the now familiar instant, packaged noodles was pioneered by Momofuku Ando, the founder of Nissin Foods in Japan.
