Records can be sorted by bullet manufacturer, bullet type, bullet weight, powder, powder weight, primer, case manufacturer, velocity, date, group size and more.
If you cannot find a load using one of the standard sort options, a secondary sort option allows you to index records by any other stored information;...even text stored in the notes field.
The shot load database does not have the secondary sort option or the ability to store boresight data.

LOAD specifies the maximum number of logical records to load (after skipping the specified number of records).
On a conventional path load, records that are to be inserted will instead be rejected if their insertions would require updating an index.
On a direct path load, the load terminates upon encountering a record that would require index maintenance be done on an index that is in unusable state.

Load data from multiple datafiles during the same load session.
A file is in variable record format when the length of each record in a character field is included at the beginning of each record in the datafile.
During conventional path loads, the input records are parsed according to the field specifications, and each data field is copied to its corresponding bind array.

The log also displays the number of records to be loaded, the number to be skipped, the number of errors to allow before aborting the load, the size of the bind array, and the data path.
Records containing data that doesn't convert to the destination datatype are rejected and written to the bad file.

Book Excerpt: Oracle9i The Complete Reference
If you have full control over the data load process, and the data is properly "cleaned" before being extracted to a load file, you may have very little tolerance for errors and discards.
After the load has completed, you need to review the log file, correct the data in the bad file, and reload the data using the original bad file as the new input file.
Since the data is being loaded from a file, you can re-create the loaded data at a later time by reloading the datafile rather than recovering it from an archived redo log file.

The database that keys the firearm to all the load and target data also incorporates an Arms Record where all data pertinent to the firearm may be recorded and stored for easy retrieval by clicking on the tabbed and labeled page.
When recording a new load where only one or two components have been changed, a duplicate entry of all the data may be copied into the new record and then the changes that were made from the origional loading are simply edited into the new record.
After firing the load for record, the shot coordinates, range, distance to chronograph, weather conditions and sight settings may be entered into a Target record which is keyed to the spcefic load.

 SQL*Loader - Oracle FAQ
Records loaded will update the associated indexes, enforce any database integrity rules defined (Primary Key, Foreign Key, Check constraints), as the records are loaded.
If the load fails, then the indexes are left in direct Load State and are unusable, a DBA or developers shown note this and remove culprit records and enable his constraints and rebuild his indexes.
In some situation you may want to load the records depending on the value of the first field, for example say you want to load only records having first field value as "100".The table under consideration is "invoice_detail" having fields "inv_no number(6), inv_quantity number(6), line_no number(6)".
